At the bottom of the watertower lays the Northholland Dunereserve. With its 20km length and a width of 2,5km, it's one of the greatest nature reserves of our country. An amazing area where you can wander or cycle on the most beautiful paths for hours during your romantic stay. A great variety of plants and animals inhabit the dunereserve. Maybe you'll spot them on your outing. You're able to encounter with Scottish Highland cattle, Konik horses and Exmoor ponies, local sheep and goats. How's that for unique experiences?!

Go cycling

Down in the Water Tower you will find 2 bicycles. You can use these bicycles during your stay in the tower. Wonderful to cycle around in the immediate vicinity, the village of Castricum and in the dunes. There are also various route maps ready for you on the cupboard downstairs. Dune map

When you visit the North Holland Dune Reserve you need a dune map. You will receive this dune map in advance by e-mail when you stay with us during a special overnight stay. Normally people can buy a dune map. The proceeds are used to maintain the dune area. A tip is a trip to the De Hoep visitor centre in Castricum. Here you can find all the information about our special nature reserve, or if you want to book an excursion in the dune area.
